A pendant hangs the eye where several traditions most wanted it: at the hollow of the throat, guarding the voice, the breath and the heart in one station. It is the form that reads most clearly as jewellery — a bracelet can pass as a trinket, but an eye on a chain is an unmistakable statement of what it is — and the form most often chosen for gifts, since necklaces carry occasion better than cord.
Two practical dimensions decide everything. Chain length: 40–45 cm sits the eye at the throat where tradition stations it; 50 cm and longer drops it to the sternum, more discreet under clothing — the quiet Levantine style. Pendant scale: under 10 mm is a private guard, 12–16 mm is the standard readable size, and above that you are in statement territory, which is its own legitimate Turkish tradition of conspicuous protection.
Materials follow the bracelet logic — real glass over printed enamel, silver for the traditional edge, gold for warmth against the classic blue. One necklace-specific note: the eye should hang facing outward and stay facing outward, so favour pendants with a fixed bail over ones that spin freely and spend half the day staring at your collarbone.
